    Description

I am selling my collection of antique office tools of all kinds so please check my other items.
These are often advertised as letter holders but are primarily holders for dip pens to prevent the damp pen from leaking onto one's desk.
They can also be used for holding letters and as paperweights as described in one of the early patent letters for this style.
This piece also has a groove for a pen in front of the coil.
The glass block is 4 ¼" x 2" at the base and 2 1/2" tall.
It is embossed "T W N CO" in a triangle on the bottom of the unit.
This marking is attributed to The Weeks-Numan Co. of New York which was incorporated in Sept. 1909.
It's in excellent condition with no chips or cracks.
The pen is for display only and is not included in the sale.
